Choose the right kitchen countertop
Is it time to put the the finishing touch to your kitchen, to find the perfect countertop? Then you’ve come to the right place. Bricmate has gathered tips, inspiration, and useful information to help you make the best choice for your new countertop.
Material
A kitchen countertop is exposed to a lot of wear and tear, from high heat from pots and baking trays, to acids from food and everyday spills. That’s why it is important to choose a material that can stand up to these challenges. Bricmate’s countertops are made from porcelain stoneware, the perfect choice for kitchen countertops thanks to:
- Extreme durability – withstands heavy loads and intensive wear
- Low water absorption – less than 0.5%, making it stain-resistant
- Heat resistance – ideal for kitchens where cooking with high temperatures is central
- Endless design possibilities – can mimic natural stone, wood, concrete, metal, and more
- Maintenance-free – requires no treatments, unlike natural stone

Patterns
With their natural look, stone inspired countertops suit all types of kitchens – modern, classic, country, shaker, and everything in between. Looking for a lively surface with character? Norrvange is an excellent choice, with its beautiful pattern and fossils that create a vibrant, organic feel. Or do you prefer a more subtle style? The Stone Select series might be the right fit for you. And if you’re drawn to the elegance and timeless appeal of marble, Glanshammar is the perfect alternative.

Corners
When choosing a kitchen countertop, the shape of the corners matters for both style and function. Square corners are the classic choice, giving a clean and streamlined look. Rounded corners, on the other hand, create a softer feeling. They can also be practical in homes with children, as they help avoid sharp edges.

Thickness
Bricmate’s standard countertop thickness is 12 mm, giving a sleek and refined look without compromising on functionality. For our countertops, we recommend a maximum overhang of 20 cm.
If you prefer a sturdier, more robust appearance, it’s possible to mitre the worktop. This involves adding an extra strip to the underside to create the illusion of greater thickness.

Surfaces
Bricmate’s countertops are available in three different finishes, Matt, Honed (semi-polished), Silk (satin matt) and Brushed, to suit various styles and the specific polishing of each stone type. Several of Bricmate’s countertops are also produced using 3D.Fit technology, an advanced method that gives the surface a lifelike texture, precisely matching the pattern. The result is a vibrant, three-dimensional feel where every detail can both be seen and felt.
